Ability to amend / update Registration for events

We hold a large conference where there are "extras" available (eg dinner; cocktail party). Currently, people have to advise at registration what they want to attend. If someone registers for Conference only, then realises they can also the dinner etc - they can't go back and simply add the dinner on. They re-register for the whole event, and then we have to organise a refund - very fiddly and time-consuming.
